Lett drives his way to junior state title

Jordan LettPromising Ballarat golfer Jordan Lett has given away age and experience in winning the Victorian Country Junior Championships.

Lett, 16, was a one-shot winner of the Under-18 event over Morwell's Lucas Towns after the two-round competition concluded on Tuesday.  

 

The Year 11 Ballarat Grammar student and UB WestVic Academy of Sport: Integra Golf Program Captain finished with a score of 152, shooting 77 on Monday a the Rossdale Golf Course before firing a round of 75 at Royal Melboune Golf Club on Tuesday.  

Lett , who played an early round, said he only found out of his victory at about 6pm on Tuesday night via the internet. 

"I guess I never knew what was going on because I left before the results have been announced" he said.  

Let rated his victory alongside his 2008 Ballarat Club Championships success, where he became the youngest winner of the event, and believed his driving was the most solid part of his game across the two days.  

He said he hit every fiarway in round two at Royal Melboure.

"I hit my drives really well, that was probalbly the highlight of both rounds," he said.
