The UB WestVic Academy of Sport: Basketball program, proudly supported by the University of Ballarat and the Ballarat Basketball Association acts as the peak basketball program outside of the NITCP and IAP.  The program’s Head Coach, DJ Sutton and Coordinator, Glen White will be select players who are on the cusp of selection for Victorian Country Squads and State Teams.  The clear aim is to conduct a program which will equip the players to challenge for these levels, and hence move to representing Ballarat at senior level in the SEABL leagues or Victoria.

The structure of the UB WestVic Academy of Sport’s Basketball Program has been designed to provide weekly on court sessions as well as structured sports science / medicine program.  These programs have been developed in order to meeting the individual needs of each athlete.

Athletes wishing to be part of the UB WestVic Academy of Sport Basketball program must show:

• Potential to compete successfully at State level as a junior player.
• Potential to build upon State success and achieve AIS or US College selection.
• Potential to progress from Junior ranks to SEABL team representation and/or NBL or WNBL representation.
• Athletic ability as assessed by Head Coach, with particular emphasis on speed, strength, hand-eye coordination and agility.
• Commitment to individual and team goals as evaluated in representative competition and training.
• Possessing personal qualities which set high standards and a healthy balance between sport, education and social development.
