Sharelle’s International netball resume is impressive, playing in two Netball World Championship winning sides, 2 Commonwealth gold medals, 2 Commonwealth Silver medals, representing Australia over 100 times.
Sharelle was voted best and fairest at the top national level 6 times. 4 for Melbourne Phoenix in the Commonwealth bank trophy, and 2 for the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ championship. Sharelle also captained the Vixens in their inaugural season in 2008 until 2011, winning the championship in 2009.
The Westvic Academy Sovereigns Netball Program acts as a “Zone Academy Preparation” program; with the 18 girls participating in an 8 week program split into two blocks. The program, run in partnership with Netball Victoria and AFL Goldfields, delivers in accordance to Netball Australia’s “Dare to develop a Diamond” program; and in addition to skills training sessions includes sport psychology, nutrition, public speaking and mentoring from elite athletes.
Sharelle will be speaking to the girls about her journey through the pathways of sport, from club level, through the ranks of representative sides and into the elite levels of competition. She will speak about the commitment and dedication that is required to achieve the highest levels of success.
Westvic Academy executive officer Rob Ward welcomed Sharelle to the academy, “we are thrilled to be joined by an athlete of Sharelle’s caliber, and we look forward to hearing stories from her highly successful career”.
