James O’Sullivan, Joe Freeman and Harry Wills represented the Central Highlands region in the 4 person team tournament against 8 other Victorian regions.
The boys played incredibly well, with the team completing all group matches without dropping a set. They won 109 out of 136 games in their group matches.
Against the Barwon region in the final, the boys won all 7 sets and won 44 out of 58 games to take out the cup.
This tournament’s results will be used to help select the 4 players who will represent Victoria at the state 13 and under foundation cup tournament. Hopefully after some strong results over the weekend, the boys are in consideration for state representation.
James O’Sullivan has played at National level this year, competing in April’s Grasscourt National Championships. He is also a member of the Tennis Victoria “Player Support Program”.
The WestVic Tennis program provides quarterly training camps; focusing on quality hitting for the region’s best talent, other on-court activities and personal development workshops. The program also includes a two-day trip to Melbourne Park to compete against other regional academies.
