What is WestVic
Westvic Academy of Sport is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation with a voluntary Board of Directors, established to provide opportunities for WestVic athletes to be their best in sport and life.
WestVic is based at Federation University, Mt.Helen on Dja Dja Wurrung and Wadawurung Country. We support athletes & families within the western Victorian community. From Bacchus Marsh to Ballarat and the Central Highlands, to the Northern Grampians and Wimmera region of Victoria,
we acknowledge the ten different lands of First Nations we cover.
The WestVic Academy of Sport is one of six (6) Regional Academies in Victoria & sits beneath the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) in the structure of the State’s talented Athlete Pathway.
VICTORIAN REGIONAL ACADEMIES OF SPORT
The Victorian Regional Academies of Sport (VRAS) are the peak sporting body of regional Victoria. The vision of VRAS is to be the peak body supporting pathways for talented and emerging Victorian regional athletes to succeed in sport and life.
VRAS PURPOSE
• Providing collaborative support to member academies for the development of athletes and coaches throughout regional Victoria
• Supporting members’ athletes and coaches to progress through their sports’ Emerging Talent Pathways including the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS).
• Enhancing the skills and building the capacity of our members
• To develop and maintain working relationships across government, VIS, State & National Sporting Organisations for the betterment of elite sport in Victoria
• To advocate and support Emerging Talent Pathways in regional Victoria.
