OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES
The WestVic Academy of Sport (WVAS) Bacchus Marsh Grammar Program provides services to selected members of the school’s “Elite Sport Program” currently offered to year nine & ten students of the school through a ‘class’ mode; as well as students now in VCE who have been part of the “Elite Sport Program” and WestVic additional program in years nine and ten. The services shall be delivered within their school timetable, to assist their development.
The aim is to provide services to these athletes which they could not otherwise access, therefore completing and complimenting their current coaching, training and competition environments. The program runs from February to December each year. The Academy management works with the School’s Director of Sport and associated staff to deliver all services. |
PROGRAM STRUCTUREThe objective of the WestVic Academy of Sport is to implement a program which takes a holistic approach to an athlete’s development, through provision of off-surface services which support both the technical and tactical sport specific coaching and other sport science support they are receiving already in their training environments. These services include:
• Musculo-Skeletal Screening and Strength & Conditioning Program service over the year of membership. • Individualised further support; focusing on any area / topic desired by the athlete where they have little or no support currently. The structure of the WVAS’ Service Delivery Partnership with Bacchus Marsh Grammar has been designed to be flexible around when over the membership year the athletes can access the services. The priority is to have timing of service delivery done to have services be of most benefit to the athletes’ development and performance. The priority is to have the timing of service delivery done to be of most benefit to the athletes’ development, performance and progress along their pathway; while being conscious of other activities and requirements placed on the athletes - we aim to deliver service as a group to ensure efficiency. |
