The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) has awarded two athletes from the FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport with Scholarships for 2018. Sixteen-year-old cyclist, Graeme Frislie, a student at Bacchus Marsh Grammar, has been awarded a Tier 1 Sports Program Scholarship, whilst fifteen-year-old Skateboarder Brad Saunders, a student at Beaufort Secondary College, has been awarded a Future Talent Program Scholarship. This is the first time FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport athletes have received a VIS Scholarship, since inception.
TEN Horsham College students have been inducted into the FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport in a new partnership between the two institutions. Students who excel in a wide range of sports, from basketball to tenpin bowling, have been invited to join the academy for next year. The academy will seek to grow the talent of young athletes in the Wimmera by providing the students with training they would not otherwise receive while at school.
Wimmera-based athletes will now have greater local access to the support and services of the FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport, thanks to a new partnership between the Academy and Horsham College.
FedUni WestVic Academy Executive (WVAS) Officer Corey Saitta said, “Partnering with schools means the Academy, in conjunction with staff at Horsham College, can identify the most talented athletes more easily, and then support them in a way that compliments existing structures. We are delighted to partner with Horsham College and believe that next year will be the first of many years of successful program and service delivery in the Wimmera region”.
We would love to hear from you. We are always on the lookout for athletes who have the potential to succeed with our ongoing help and assistance. Similarly, we value our partnerships with organisations, coaches, health professionals and facilities across the western region of Victoria.
