Graeme Frislie Crowned Men’s U19 Champion of Champion’s at Australian Track Cycling National Championships

FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport athlete and Bacchus Marsh Grammar student, Graeme Frislie, was crowned Men’s U19 Champion of Champion’s at the Australian Track Cycling National Championship at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane on the weekend.

Frislie, a current Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) scholarship holder, was simply outstanding across several races, winning two Individual Gold medals in the 1km Time Trial and Scratch Race and a further two Team Gold medals by claiming the Team Pursuit and the Madison.  Frislie had already won the Gold medal in the Omnium National Championship in October last year.

Graeme Frislie: Leading the Team Pursuit
Bacchus Marsh Grammar student and FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport athlete Graeme Frislie reigned supreme at the 2019 Oceania Track Championships at the Adelaide Super-Drome which concluded last Sunday.

Frislie, 17, a track cycling star of the future and current Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) Scholarship holder, headlined the event with outstanding performances culminating in him winning two gold medals and two silver medals.

Frislie dominated his respective events, winning the Male Under 19 Madison and Under 19 Team race.

Sam Rizzo says he is getting back to reality very slowly as the excitement from his first Commonwealth Games experience is yet to wear off.    

The 17-year-old para-athlete arrived in Buninyong in the early hours of Tuesday morning and was back at school by Wednesday.

FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport athletes and Bacchus Marsh Grammar students, Graeme Frislie and Elizabeth Nuspan, have enjoyed success at the National Under 19 Track Championships in Brisbane.

Cycling Australia’s premier National Track meeting was staged at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane, earlier this month. The venue will also play host to the Track Cycling events at this year’s upcoming Commonwealth Games in April.

FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport Athletes Awarded Victorian Institute of Sport Scholarships

The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) has awarded two athletes from the FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport with Scholarships for 2018.
Sixteen-year-old cyclist, Graeme Frislie, a student at Bacchus Marsh Grammar, has been awarded a Tier 1 Sports Program Scholarship, whilst fifteen-year-old Skateboarder Brad Saunders, a student at Beaufort Secondary College, has been awarded a Future Talent Program Scholarship.
This is the first time FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport athletes have received a VIS Scholarship, since inception.
